Horse riding

Hiking

The breathtaking natural environment makes this area ideal for hiking. It is advisable to stick to marked routes in the nature reserves to prevent getting lost.

Cycling

Gordon’s Bay is very popular for both road cycling and mountain biking. Cycle races and triathlons are regularly held in the area. Sir Lowry’s Pass offers challenging training routes for avid cyclists, Clarence Drive a relatively flat scenic route, and the Kogelberg Biosphere offers superb mountain bike terrain.

Water sport

A range of water sports, such as jet skiing, rubber ducks, and water skiing are available – please ask at reception for arrangements to be made. Also worth a visit is the cable water-skiing facilities at Blue Rock, about 5 minutes away from Colourful Manor.

Surfing and Kite-surfing lessons are on offer at the Strand Beach lifesaving club, 10 minutes away from Gordon’s Bay.

Boating & Fishing

Enjoy a relaxing sunset cruise on a catamaran or motor yacht; or for the more adventurous, go on a deep sea fishing or diving experience.

Flying (small aircraft)

For plane fans, a trip to the small airfield near Stellenbosch is worthwhile. The airfield has a club house and is idyllically surrounded by mountains. Sometimes one can even see aerobatics or book a flight.

Paragliding

Shark cage diving

From Dyer Island which is situated off the coast from Kleinbaai (Gansbaai). Between the months of May through October is considered to be the best time to view the Great White Shark, although they are seen throughout the year.
